A Variety of Rigid and Flexible Circuits

MPPI provides flexible and rigid circuits to meet your needs. Please take a few minutes to review our product options.

Flex Circuits

Single-Sided Flex Circuits

Single-sided flexible circuits consist of a single conductor layer on a flexible dielectric film with termination features accessible from one side. Such circuits can be fabricated with or without protective coatings as cover layers or cover coats.

Applications:

Double-Sided Flex Circuits

Double-sided flex circuits are constructed with two conductor layers, with or without plated through holes. Terminations for such circuits can easily be provided on either side of the circuit. As with single-sided flex, double-sided flex circuits can be fabricated with cover layers.

Multilayer Flex Circuits

Flex circuits having three or more layers of conductors, which are interconnected by way of plated-through holes, referred to as multilayer flex. Layers may be continually laminated together throughout construction in such cases where maximum flexibility is required, and where flexing or bending occurs they can be manufactured unbound.

Double Access or Back Bared Flex Circuits

Double access flex, also known as back bared flex, are circuits with a single conductor layer which is processed in a manner that allows access to the conductors from both sides.

Rigid-Flex Circuit

Rigid-flex circuits are of a hybrid construction consisting of rigid and flexible substrates laminated together into a single package and electrically interconnected by means of plated-through holes. Such flexible circuit types have enjoyed tremendous popularity among military product designers, and in recent years have made gains in the commercial world. Rigid-flex boards are normally multilayer designs, however double-sided (tow metal layer) constructions are possible, and have been used in certain microelectronic applications.

FR4 Rigid

Glass laminates are widely used for subtractive printed circuit board fabrication because they meet a wide variety of processing conditions. Thermally stable copper-clad epoxy-glass laminates offer high mechanical strength and machinability, outstanding electrical characteristics, consistent drilling properties, and V-O fire resistance. Designed for single and double-sided boards, they provide a combination of processing flexibility and finished board performance needed for many SMT applications.
